Real experiences from real travelers
We took the speedboat option and it was fantastic. The crew was hilarious and the lunch on Poda Island was surprisingly good. The sandbar at Tup Island was crowded but beautiful.
We chose the longtail boat. It's slower and louder, but feels much more 'Thai'. Snorkeling at Chicken Island was okay, visibility wasn't perfect but we saw many fish. Great value for money.
I was worried about food but they provided a separate vegetarian box for me which was delicious. Phra Nang cave is stunning. Highly recommend booking the early slot to beat the heat.
Great tour if you have limited time. The speedboat gets you between islands in 15 mins. Guides were very attentive to safety. The national park fee is collected in cash before boarding, so bring Thai Baht.
The islands are gorgeous, exactly like the postcards. However, be prepared for crowds at the sandbar. It's a very popular tour. The guides managed the group well despite the numbers.
Solid day trip. The snorkeling gear was decent quality. Poda Island was my favorite stop - huge beach with plenty of space to find a quiet spot. Pickup from Ao Nang was on time.
The scenery is breathtaking. We saw monkeys at Railay (keep your food hidden!). The boat crew took great photos for us. A must-do in Krabi.
The 'Talay Waek' phenomenon was visible because we went at low tide. Very unique. The sun is very strong, bring a lot of sunscreen.
Everything you need to know for your journey
Longtail boats are traditional wooden vessels that are slower (30-45 mins between islands) and offer a more authentic, relaxed experience. Speedboats are modern fiberglass boats that are much faster (10-15 mins between islands) but can be bumpy and less stable for photography.
No, the National Park fee is a government charge usually paid in cash on the day of the tour. As of 2025, it is typically 400 THB for adults and 200 THB for children.
Yes, most tours include free round-trip transfers from hotels in Ao Nang and Krabi Town. Remote areas like Klong Muang or Tubkaek may incur a surcharge (100-200 THB).
Lunch is typically a Thai buffet picnic served on the beach at Koh Poda or Poda Island. It usually includes rice, chicken massaman or green curry, stir-fried vegetables, and fresh fruit. Halal and vegetarian options are generally available upon request.
There are basic public toilet facilities on Koh Poda and Chicken Island. There are no toilets on the boats themselves (except larger cruisers) or on the smaller sandbar islands.
Speedboat tours are strictly not recommended for pregnant women due to the bouncy ride which can be dangerous. Longtail boats are smoother but still pose risks; please consult your doctor.
Tours operate in light rain, but if sea conditions are deemed unsafe by the marine department, the tour will be cancelled and you will receive a full refund or option to reschedule.
Yes, a mask and snorkel are provided free of charge. Fins are usually not included but sometimes available for rent. Life jackets are mandatory and provided.
The dry season from November to April offers the calmest seas and best visibility. The shoulder months (April-May) are hot but good. The monsoon season (June-October) can have rougher seas and unpredictable weather.
